Golden Milk Recipe with Turmeric, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, and Nutmeg

Golden Milk Recipe with Turmeric, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, and Nutmeg

We love making simple, wholesome recipes in our HeartSong kitchen. This natural golden milk with turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and nutmeg is one of our favourite comforting drinks at any time of the day. Turmeric and cinnamon have long been used traditionally for their anti-inflammatory benefits, so it’s a delicious way to support and nourish your well-being.

Ingredients (1 serving)

1 cup whole milk or unsweetened plant milk (almond, coconut, oat, etc.)

½ to 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or 1-inch fresh turmeric, grated)

¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder (or ½ cinnamon stick)

Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg (for garnish)

Optional: ½-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced or grated

Optional: raw honey or pure maple syrup (to taste, added after heating)

Instructions

  1. Pour milk into a small saucepan. Add turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger if using.
  2. Warm gently over low to medium heat for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Avoid boiling.
  3. If using fresh spices, strain the milk into a cup.
  4. Add raw honey or maple syrup after removing from heat, if desired.
  5. Sprinkle freshly grated nutmeg on top before serving.

Notes

  • Black pepper increases turmeric’s absorption.
  • Use fresh spices when possible for the best flavor and health benefits.
  • Do not boil the milk to preserve nutrients.

Bon Appetit!

"...a fabulous week. I had a wonderful time, as fun as it was relaxing (and they don't always go together) and have come back invigorated by the company, singing, sea air and outrageously good food. You're a great team with the gift of bringing people together and conjuring up something very special."
